Tape
Release Date:

Limited release
This film was first presented at the 2001 Sundance Film Festival, and is based on a play by Stephen Belber. It was filmed using digital cameras for under $150,000, and is being transferred to film for this release.
This film takes place entirely in a drab hotel room after two old friends run into each other at a film festival and get together to reminisce about the good old days. They talk about the past and what's happened to them in the ten years since high school. However, the mood takes a serious turn when Vince (Ethan Hawke) reveals the anger he's been holding inside for his friend, Johnny (Robert Sean Leonard).
Vince accuses Johnny of raping Amy (his ex, played by Uma Thurman) many years ago. Johnny admits that they were drunk and they had some rough sex. But was it consensual or not? Vince plans to find out what Amy thinks. Unbeknownst to Johnny, he invited her to the hotel to tell her side of the story.
The topic of date rape will be uncomfortable for many people and it may keep people from seeing this film. The fact that this movie's going to have a limited release won't help either.
