Evergreen debuted in competition at Sundance in 2004. Now, the film will mark the debut of AMC Theaters' Digital Distribution System - which means that the film will be digitally transmitted to the screens of AMC Theaters as opposed to the various movie houses having individual prints. AMC set its own deal with the filmmakers to put the film in their theaters.

The story centers around 14-year-old Henrietta (Addie Land), known as Henri to friends and family. Henri yearns for everything she doesn't have. Times are hard, and Henri and her mother Kate (Cara Seymour) must move in with Henri's grandmother (Lynn Cohen) into a leaky shack at the very edge of town.

All that matters to Henri is finding a way out of this poverty. She meets a boy named Chat Turly (Noah Fleiss) at school and becomes jealous and infatuated with his wealthy, idyllic family. Though the Turlys exhibit some strange behavior, she ignores these flaws, seeing only what she wants to see in her efforts to become part of this family. Eventually, she is no longer able to overlook the flaws of the Turly clan, and she grows to appreciate what she does have. (Kim Hollis/BOP)
