What do X-Men stars do when they're in between sequels? Well, if you're Mystique or Cyclops, you take a little time out for a dark romantic comedy with one of Britain's funniest actors.

In the appropriately named Alibi, Steve Coogan (Around the World in 80 Days) plays a man who runs a service that provides cheating spouses with excuses to keep their husbands/wives/significant others blissfully unaware of their extracurricular activities. When one client (James Marsden) finds himself in a bit of a jam, Coogan's character hires a woman (Rebecca Romijn-Stamos) to help fix the situation. Matters become even more complicated when Coogan's character starts to fall for the woman.

The movie is being co-directed by first-timers Matt Checkowski and Kurt Mattila, who have previously worked together on visual effects for Steven Spielberg's Minority Report. Production is planned for Summer of 2004. (Kim Hollis/BOP)
