Delgo is remarkable in that it is one of the very first feature-length CGI-animated films done completely independent of the studio system. Fathom Studios, based out of Atlanta, Georgia, bucked the system in a way seldom seen, attracting loads of well-known names as voice talent and creating a movie that is definitely generating significant buzz among insiders in animation.

Featuring Freddy Prinze Jr. in the title role, Delgo tells the story of a naïve, adventurous teenager who lives on a distant planet known as Jhamora. The land is divided by a war between the Lockni and Nohrin people, and the troubled youth must join with an unlikely band of friends to save the planet from destroying itself in the conflict.

Along with Prinze, the cast includes a number of notable names. Jennifer Love Hewitt plays Kyla, a mischievous and optimistic young princess, while Anne Bancroft is Sedessa, an ambitious, eccentric leader. Chris Kattan is Delgo's best friend Filo, the wise-cracking sidekick, if you will.

General Bogardus, High General of the Nohrin army, is portrayed by Val Kilmer. Raius, as played by Malcolm McDowell, is an officer in the same army. King Zahn, a kind but cautious leader, has Lou Gossett Jr. as the man behind the voice. And Michael Clarke Duncan is Elder Marley, the master of the land's magical powers.

Also on board as comic relief are Eric Idle, as a forest sprite. Kelly Ripa and Burt Reynolds have supporting roles as well.

At this time, Fathom Studios is seeking the best distribution options for Delgo, and plans for a nationwide release. (Kim Hollis/BOP)
