Football season is the happiest time of the entire year.
That said, not all women feel the same way. When the leaves begin to turn bright red and orange, it's a sure sign that the menfolk are about to become affixed to the couch for the next several months as the glorious tradition of the NFL and NCAA football takes over the air waves.
In Sports Widow, Reese Witherspoon will play just such a woman, a wife whose husband does nothing but watch football on TV. Frustrated, she tries to conceive of a way that she can reclaim her life with him, and her plan is truly ingenious. She becomes an expert on the sport, enabling her not only to one-up her spouse, but to create a commonality between them. Just as Witherspoon's character Elle in Legally Blonde turned learning an unfamiliar craft to hilarity, the premise of this film looks to allow similar humor.
And hopefully, by the end, she'll realize that football isn't really just a guy thing, anyway. (Kim Hollis/BOP)
