You loved her in Deliver Us from Eva, you thought she was adorable with Charlie in a guest starring appearance on The West Wing, and you forgave her for crimes against nature in Cradle 2 the Grave. Now, Gabrielle Union is back, and it sounds like she’s in warm and fuzzy mode again, which is frankly the way she should always be.
Union, one of the hardest working actresses in Hollywood these days (look up her IMDB filmography if you don’t believe me), will appear in this Universal Pictures comedy about the proverbial fish out of water. Similar in tone to the Michael J. Fox classic, Doc Hollywood (co-starring the delectable and adorable Julie Warner as his small-town love), 32 and Single will tell the story of a New York City urbanite forced to travel to a small Midwestern town in order to complete a business transaction.
Once the Union character arrives, she faces culture shock as, to her infinite surprise, New Elm, Minnesota proves to be different from Gotham. Even worse, the locals resent her a bit, what with her being the figurehead responsible for closing down the factory which provides jobs to many of the townsfolk. As is the case in most films in this vein, she will eventually be forced to choose between her career and doing what is right. Gee, which one do you think she’ll pick? (David Mumpower/BOP)
