It's an ingenious little premise. Ordinary guy Matt is in a relationship that seems normal on its surface. The thing is, his girlfriend, Jenny, just happens to be a superhero. That's nifty and all, but the problem is that she is extremely needy, neurotic and controlling. So he breaks up with her. The trouble with that solution is that when you break up with a superhero, they have all sorts of powers at their disposal with which to torment and embarrass you.
The cast for Super Ex-Girlfriend is terrific. Adorable every-guy Luke Wilson has the lead role of Matt, while the striking Uma Thurman is the super power-enabled ex. The always hilarious Anna Faris has a supporting role, and Eddie Izzard is onboard, too. At the helm of the film is a veteran of comedy, Ivan Reitman. Perhaps you've heard of some of his work, which includes Meatballs, Stripes and Ghost Busters. Don Payne, who was responsible for a couple of Treehouse of Horror episodes from The Simpsons in addition to the show's classic episode Insane Clown Poppy, wrote the screenplay. (Kim Hollis/BOP)
