The Farrelly Brothers are at it again, this time tackling the subject of Siamese twins (or conjoined twins, if you prefer the politically-correct terminology. Which I don't). Matt Damon and Greg Kinnear star as the Siamese twins (and I smell a possible Best Make-Up nomination if they actually make these two look like identical twins), who have been gifted with incredible talents and abilities and who seemingly don't mind being literally joined at the hip. All this changes, however, when one of the brothers decides to pursue his lifelong dream of becoming a Hollywood star, and convinces his somewhat reluctant twin to join him. Hilarity - and gross-out scenes galore - ensues.

Now, I'm one of five people on the planet - or possibly the known universe - who hasn't seen There's Something About Mary, and I intentionally took a pass on Dumb and Dumber, and will again on its sequel. That being said, I have to say this premise has a great deal of promise on paper. Outside of the curiosity factor of seeing Damon and Kinnear gussied up as Siamese twins, I also have rather a fondness for insider Hollywood jokes, and this film will likely be rife with them. And as bizarre-looking as Cher's visage has become, there's still a fascination with seeing just how much trouble she has stretching her surgically-tautened muscles into something resembling expressions. Plus, she actually has some acting talent. Add in rumored cameos by Al Pacino and Jack "I Take Every Opportunity to Play Myself I Can Find" Nicholson, and this one has tons of appeal.

The Farrellys have a decent track record (the abomination that was Osmosis Jones notwithstanding) and have something of a built-in audience for their films. With a good marketing campaign, 20th Century Fox should have a nice little hit on their hands to help the year-end bottom line. (Stephanie Star Smith/BOP)
