The smart thing for men’s entertainment kingpin Maxim to do, upon entering the film market, would’ve been to carefully select one film, put a lot of muscle behind it, and see what happened, then act accordingly with further projects. Instead, they instantly greenlit three seemingly interchangeable films, found low-rent young folks to make them, and called it a day.

Mardi Gras stars Carmen Electra, who you may have seen recently if someone beat you over the head until you were unconscious and then dragged you into a movie theater during a showing of Meet the Spartans, Epic Movie, or Date Movie. The plot – as such – seems to revolve around some young lads sowing their wild oats at Mardi Gras. (What, you thought it was going to be about Swiss neutrality during the Cold War?)

Also in the cast are Daneel Harris of One Tree Hill and Nicholas D’Agosto of Heroes, who were somehow suckered in to two of Maxim’s in-production projects. Arielle Keebel of John Tucker Must Die and Regina Hall of the Scary Movie series are also involved. Director Phil Dornfeld and writer Josh Heald are both first-timers. The movie will be shot on-location in New Orleans, because if there’s one thing that city needs right now, it’s a movie about carefree privileged youngsters trying to get laid. (Sean Collier/BOP)
