Welcome to Mooseport is to The American President as the XFL is to the NFL. |
Gene Hackman plays a former president, who wants nothing more than to settle down in the small town of Mooseport and enjoy his retirement. He is convinced to run for mayor of the town and given a token opponent (Ray Romano) in the election. The ex-president finds it hard to suppress his aggressive political instincts, however, and the election turns into a no-holds-barred campaign.
After having success as the voice in the animated film Ice Age, Romano gets to try to see if he can translate his Everybody Loves Raymond success into a big screen career. He has given himself a good chance by attaching himself to a film helmed by Donald Petrie, who is on a hot streak with Miss Congeniality and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. (Dan Krovich/BOP)
