Not as bad as I feared, not nearly as good as I was hoping. |
The phrase "sleeping with the fishes" will take on a whole new meaning as this DreamWorks animated tale takes the standard Mafia story and sets it under the sea. The CG-animated tale will be another co-production with PDI, following in the footsteps of Antz and Shrek (and Tusker and Shrek 2).
The story focuses on Oscar, voiced by Will Smith, a bottom-feeding fish who sees his opportunity when a shark who is the son of the leader of the shark Mafia is killed. Oscar plays the hero by taking credit for removing such a bad guy from the underwater society, but, of course, being known as someone who killed a member of the Mob has its downside. Oscar gets in trouble with the Mob family headed by a shark voiced by James Gandolfini.
With a stellar voice cast and the DreamWorks/PDI track record, Sharkslayer will likely provide solid family entertainment for kids and adults. (Dan Krovich/BOP)
