This long-in-development project tells the story of a slave named Danny (Jet Li) who has the mind and personality of a young child. With no sort of normal education or real positive upbringing, Danny's owner/boss Bart (Bob Hoskins) has taught him only one lesson -- how to fight. Bart treats Danny like a dog, even to the point where the slave is forced to wear a collar.

Trained as a lethal fighting machine who goes up for combat in illegal gladiator-style fight clubs, Danny earns some substantial coin for Bart as the consistent undisputed champion. Suddenly, though, Bart is in a car accident that causes him to be comatose. Left on his own, Danny has a chance encounter with an elderly and blind piano tuner (Morgan Freeman) who shows the young man kindness for the first time in his life. He teaches Danny about being more human through music, enabling his pupil to free himself from the underworld.

Things aren't as simple as they seem, however. Not only is the piano tuner on the run because he knows some secrets that some bad guys don't want revealed, but the mob is also extremely unhappy about giving up its star fighter.

The film is co-written by Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen, who have previously collaborated on movies such as The Fifth Element, The Transporter and Kiss of the Dragon. Action choreography will be handled by the incomparable Yuen Woo-Ping, who is famous for his work on the Matrix films, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Fist of Legend, and the Kill Bill movies.
