It's hard work being a hit man, particularly when you fall in love with the person who just happens to be your next target. Such is the premise of Love and a Bullet, a film that stars Naughty by Nature's Anthony "Treach" Criss as Malik "The Ghost" Bishop, a killer who is assigned to watch his boss's girlfriend and develops feelings for her during the process. Unfortunately, he finds that he may have to kill her, which obviously puts him in a difficult situation. This urban crime thriller marks the directorial debut of Michael "Kantz" McCants and Ben Ramsey, who also co-wrote the screenplay. The Sony/Screen Gems production also stars Freez Luv, Walter Jones, Bud Sabatino, and Kent Masters King, who plays the object of Malik's affection. A number of rap performers, such as Snoop Dogg, Method Man and Redman, have seen their movies open to varying degrees of success in the past year, so the box-office prospects of Love and a Bullet will depend a great deal on distribution and marketing. The film has already been bounced around the release schedule a couple of times, and has yet to be included under Sony's "Coming Soon" section for Screen Gems. Considering the fact that very little other information is readily available, another schedule push may be looming in the near future. (Kim Hollis/BOP) June 7, 2002 July 12, 2002
