Ever wonder what you would get if you took Animal House and crossed it with Bosom Buddies? That's right, cross-dressers in college. And this film gives you just that.

Barry Watson, Michael Rosenbaum, and Harland Williams play three frat boys who have been falsely accused of embezzling funds from their fraternity and are tossed out of the house. They need evidence to prove their innocence, but that's going to be a problem. They need to get into the fraternity, but only girls are invited in. So guess what they do. You got it! Plus, along the way, they realize how badly they've treated girls throughout their lives.

The title Dog Catcher just didn't click with studio executives so they changed it to Sorority Boys. It should appeal to the teen audience and those adults that miss the "good old days". The movie poster and tagline - Look Closer (Not That Close) - are hilarious. (Marty Doskins/BOP)

As Kim Hollis was prognosticating in her March Top Ten Forecast, Sorority Boys seems poised to surprise this weekend as advertising for the film has been abundant and, more importantly, effective. Carrying a similar feel to the 2000 semi-hit Dude, Where's My Car?, Sorority Boys seems poised to cash in on the silly, R-rated comedy that appeals to teens genre.

Silliness is the word of the day as the movie about three college boys dressing up as sorority girls to get into a fraternity offers pure slapstick and a moderate dose of blue humor. Opening on a modest number of screens, Sorority Boys should do quite well as the market hasn't seen a movie of this genre in quite a while.

With the continuing success of 2002, and March leading the way of that success, it seems unlikely that Sorority Boys will be anything but a moderate success. Competition should not be much of an issue as the other movies debuting this weekend are a horror action film and a re-release of a children's classic. The film should have no problem making back its budget and then some. (Walid Habboub/BOP)
