This film asks the question, "What if a CGI character became a star?" Al Pacino returns to the big screen in this feature. The production of this film has been pretty hush-hush, so there aren't a lot of details yet, but here's what we know. The film finds Pacino as a down-and-out film producer. He desperately needs a box-office hit and the star of his latest film (Winona Ryder) storms off the set of the production. A computer genius sees what's happening and offers to help out Pacino. The "brlliant" idea is to create a CGI actress to take Ms. Ryder's place in the film. Of course, they're not going to tell anyone about it, not even the head of the studio. They call their creation S1m0ne, based on the name of the computer program that created her; Simulation-1, or Sim-one for short. Pretty clever, don't you think? The "actress" becomes a big hit with the public and the scheme snowballs from there. Writer/director Andrew Niccol of Gattaca and The Truman Show fame has kept a tight lid on any production details. I guess he's trying to build everyone's curiosity to a fever pitch. This film was already delayed once, almost a year from October 12, 2001, supposedly due to the "traffic jam" of films at that time last year. Let's see if the studio can get everyone interested in this project. (Marty Doskins/BOP)
