La Ciénaga
Release Date:
October 3, 2001
Limited release
An Argentinean film about familial relationships, La Ciénaga tells the tale of two large, middle-class families who spend a summer in the same run-down resort. Through various circumstances, the lives of the two families intertwine, and a portrait of family dynamics and the slow, economic decline of the middle-class over the last few decades is drawn.
On paper, this would seem to be a pretty standard foreign/relationship film, although with perhaps more potential for black humor than is the norm. La Ciénaga is scheduled for a limited release beginning October 3rd; it will likely see an average run on the art-house circuit, but probably not see much business beyond your average foreign/relationship film.
