Roman Coppola, son of legendary director Francis Ford Coppola, is going into the family business. He makes his feature-film writing and directing debut with this movie.

The story is about a hopeful filmmaker named Paul (Jeremy Davies) living in Paris in 1969. He's working as an editor on a low-budget sci-fi film called Dragonfly; it's the French take on 1960s-style sci-fi films, complete with women in shiny metallic spacesuits. Two days before filming is set to wrap, Paul finds himself promoted to director, and is charged with the task of finishing the film. In his spare time, Paul is working on an ultra-serious documentary about his life. We get to see how working on Dragonfly is affecting his personal life.

This film had its premiere at the 2001 Cannes Film Festival. Most reviews of this film have been fairly positive. I take this as a good sign, because I think most reviewers would've been very critical of Coppola; "lack of skill compared to dad", "got the job only because of connections, not talent", etc. If you get a chance, go see this film and see if Roman made his poppa proud.
