Charming and touching... Michael Angarano has the makings of a star. |
Michael Angarano (Sky High) stars as 16-year-old terminal cancer patient Dylan Jameison. When he is granted his final wish by the charitable organization United Wish Givers, he first chooses to go fishing with his football hero (Johnny Messner), but then changes his mind during the locally televised news conference to promote the event. He instead reveals that his choice is to spend an entire weekend with supermodel Nikki Sinclair (Sunny Mabrey), whose poster hangs over Dylan's bed.
The situation is complicated by the fact that Nikki is actually spiraling down a path of self-destruction. After pushing a model offstage during a recent fashion show, she's in need of some positive publicity. Her agent (Gina Gershon) sets up a photo shoot, which sets the stage for Dylan to try to romance the object of his lust. To that end, Dylan spends his final days in New York, with his two best friends helping him to fulfill his wish. All of this gives his single mother (Cynthia Nixon) reason for consternation, but ultimately it's a tale of a young man who is both coming-of-age and contending with his own imminent departure from the world. (Kim Hollis/BOP)
