Michael Lehmann (Heathers, The Truth About Cats and Dogs) directs this film about mothers who have trouble letting go of their children when they have grown up. Diane Keaton stars as Daphne Wilder, a mother of three daughters who is immensely proud of them and loves them endlessly. Lauren Graham plays the oldest, a psychologist, Piper Perabo is the middle child and Mandy Moore is the cute yet lacking in self-confidence Milly, a young lady who attracts all the wrong (read: psychotic) men.
Observing Milly's troubles with finding stability in a man, Daphne decides that she will set her youngest daughter up with the perfect guy. Milly has no idea that her mother has placed an online ad to find him. Naturally, all sorts of comic misunderstandings ensue as Daphne continues to do all the wrong things - though her heart is in the right place. Eventually, all three girls help Daphne to sort out when the best time is to assert her motherly will - and when is the best time to let her children make their own decisions and mistakes.
