The Thing About My Folks

A movie that has been receiving remarkable word-of-mouth from audiences who have had the opportunity to see it in festival showings, The Thing About My Folks has been picked up by Picturehouse, the new distribution venture from New Line Cinema and Home Box Office.
The movie is semi-autobiographical and was written specifically by Paul Reiser for his all-time favorite actor, Peter Falk. The tale crosses three generations as it examines the relationship between a father and his son, a father and his daughters and a husband and his wife.
The story begins when an unexpected family crisis throws a bemused writer and his loose cannon of a father into each other's company for an unplanned road trip. Together, they uncover family secrets and learn more about each other than they could have even imagined would be possible. The film has been favorably compared to On Golden Pond, and if audience reaction is any indication, has a great chance to be one of fall's biggest surprises. (Kim Hollis/BOP)
