That Ben McKenzie sure is dreamy.

On the Big Board
Position Staff In Brief
32/94 Shane Jenkins Awww... and jeez, Amy Adams is good.
84/214 Max Braden Adams is very camera friendly, but Sarandon is an inferior mimic of The Emperor's New Groove's Yzma. Not worth the time for those older than high school.

Disney animated classics are a staple of movie making. This is why they have been satirically sent up so often, from Naked Gun to Shrek to most recently in The Simpsons Movie. What is odd about Enchanted, however, is that it is Disney doing the sending up. That's right. The Mouse House is finally developing a sense of humor about their intellectual properties.

Enchanted tells the story of a beautiful princess whose life is thrown into upheaval by the jealous queen of Andalasia. Through evil witchcraft, she is banished far away to a foreign land known as…New York City. At this point, the movie which had been animated suddenly switches into a live action fractured fairy tale wherein the impossibly pure princess finds herself interacting with irritable, callous New Yorkers. I'm going to be honest with you. If you're not already sold on the premise, you and I are quite different. In my book, the only way it could be better is if Snow White goes to Yankee Stadium and dresses down ARod for being overpaid.

Enchanted is not just a brilliant idea. The casting is also impeccable. Academy Award nominee Amy Adams portrays Giselle, the imperiled princess, while Academy Award winner Susan Sarandon is cast as the wicked queen. James Marsden of X-Men fame is also on-board as an animated prince who falls for Giselle then follows her all the way to Gotham. McDreamy himself, Patrick Dempsey, is cast the one nice New Yorker willing to overlook Giselle's eccentricities long enough to fall in love with her.

Stating the obvious, Enchanted is going to be a hit. (David Mumpower/BOP)
