I have an idea for a film. I think I'll compare it to previous films to see if it will be successful or not. Okay, I want to make a Brendan Fraser family film (Inkheart, Journey to the Center of the Earth), starring woodland creatures (The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle, Alvin and the Chipmunks), and a conflict based on humans building near animal habitats (Hoot, Over the Hedge). My movie may be financially unsuccessful as each of the first films listed in the parentheses made less than $30 million domestically. On the other hand, my movie could be wildly successful as each of the latter films made more than $100 million domestically (and between $240 and 360 million worldwide!). Let's put this film into production!

Dang, I just checked and this film is already in production. The title of the film is Furry Vengeance and it stars Brendan Fraser as a real estate developer whose new project in the Oregon wilderness gets the forest animals quite upset. The animals decide to fight back and hilarious hijinks probably ensue.

Let's look at the talent involved with the movie. Brendan Fraser is the lead actor, and while his box office results vary, audiences will be comfortable with him in this type of movie. The writers of this film, Michael Carnes and Josh Gilbert, previously wrote Mr. Woodcock together. Hopefully that doesn't mean this "family film" will have inappropriate humor. I'm leaning towards trusting these writers, though, especially if they penned the absolutely incredible title Furry Vengeance. The film's director is Roger Kumble (College Road Trip, Just Friends) and the producers are Keith Goldberg (Rendition) and Robert Simonds. Robert Simonds has produced over 30 comedies including The Waterboy, Cheaper by the Dozen, Herbie: Fully Loaded, and The Pink Panther.

An interesting story: Furry Vengeance is one of the first two films being made as a result of Imagenation Abu Dhabi partnering with Participant Media in late 2008. Imagenation Abu Dhabi is a company that finances and produces Arabic films and helps support filmmakers in the Middle East. This company is investing $250 million to support 15-18 feature films with Participant Media, a Los Angeles-based entertainment company. Almost all of these future films, including Furry Vengeance, have a distribution deal with Summit Entertainment (who made a little movie called "Twilight.")

This film could be a box office disappointment. Or it could be a breakout hit for the whole family to enjoy. Only time will tell which fate awaits the aptly titled Furry Vengeance. (Curt David/BOP)
