Workaholic Kevin Bacon and his breathtaking significant other Krya Sedgwick look to redeem themselves for Pyrates (look it up) with this production from 2004 indie wunderkind Newmarket.

The Woodsman tells the story of Walter, an ex-con who returns home after being imprisoned for a dozen years.. He wears the worst scarlet letter for criminals, P for pedophile. Walter has spent the last decade of his life trying to rehabilitate himself from having a sexual predilection for too-young girls.

When Walter returns home, he faces shunning from locals who seek to
protect their youth from this man they consider a monster. Walter
eventually finds emploment at the local lumber yard and is given a place to live by his brother-in-law, Walter (Miss Congeniality's Benjamin Bratt). The woodsman spends a great deal of his time on the job debating whether or not he has left behind his dark desires and found redemption

Akong the way, he meets Vickie (Sedgwick), a woman who is able to see
beyond his past. The two begin to fall in love, but Walter still fears his unspeakable longings will eventually float back to the surface.

In addition to these three notables, The Woodsman also co-stars comedian David Alan Grier (In Living Color and Jumanji), and musicians-cum-thespians Eve and Mos Def. The low-budgeted production estimated at $5 million hopes to follow on the successes of other 2003\2004 Newmarket hits Whale Rider, Monster, and The Passion of the Christ. Will the year's It Distributor continue its unprecedented hot streak? (David Mumpower/BOP)
