During World War II, the British were fighting a battle that seemed hopeless against an army that vastly outnumbered them in size and scope. The government put out a call to all able-bodied men to fight for the cause of their homeland. This movie tells the story of two of them.

Of course, not every soldier fights on the front lines. Some of them provide alternative services in order to support their brothers-in-arms. In this instance, that support happens to be based upon fighting another arch-foe of the English: bad teeth. That's right, the two warriors, Sergeant Peter King and Private Leslie Cuthbertson, are dentists by trade. The duo are not entirely sold on the duties asked of them by their regiment, so they abandon their post in order to pursue a goal they feel would be more beneficial to Mother England. King, a World War I veteran, persuades his young colleague to enter axis territory in order to create havoc behind enemy lines.

The shocking aspect of this true story is that the bumbling men were unexpectedy successful. After sailing to occupied France, the two oral hygienists were able to detonate a bomb that disabled a German radar station, which they had confused for the main Operations Room. Their reward for this act of heroism comes in the form of pursuit from a significant portion of the German military housed at that stronghold. Even worse, when they finally return home to the U.K., they discover a court martial awaiting their arrival. The motherland frowns upon those who abandon their posts, even if they are just required to clean teeth to combat Hitler. (David Mumpower/BOP)
